November 29th, 1975: Beatles roadie Mal Evans describes how The Beatles splintered before they split - including the September 1969 Apple meeting where John told Paul he wanted a divorce.
MAL: And then… John left. And I remember that well. That was really, truly a heartbreaking experience. We were in Apple, at 3 Savile Row, and John said, “It’s over.” You know? And I drove Paul home. And we got to Paul’s house, and he spent… the next hour, in the house, crying his eyes out. And I just wandered around the garden like a lost soul, just crying. It was the end of the world. It was like the end of The Wizard of Oz–when [Dorothy] gets back to the black-and-white reality. All the colour had gone out of life.
PAUL! PAUL! PAUUUUL!!
GOD, YOU ARE 70 YEARS OLD! AND I LOVE YOU! THIS Is WRONG!KING OF SASSINESS, PLEASE, STOP RUINING MY LIFE!
